Teaching & Learning

Senior School

John Paul College Senior School continues to follow an holistic approach to educating students in Years 10, 11 and 12, by offering a comprehensive academic curriculum and co-curricular program designed to meet the individual needs of students and to foster their individual development.

A combination of academic studies, balanced with sport, performing arts or community involvement co-curricular activities encourages the development of our Senior School students as confident, real-world-ready young adults.

Year 10

The journey begins with the Year 10 program which is designed to prepare students for the pathway options through Years 11 - 12 and to provide the opportunity for students to:

  • learn through a wide variety of subject choices
  • investigate course options for Years 11 & 12
  • excel in areas of strength and consolidate learning in areas of weakness.

Years 11 & 12

John Paul College Senior School students choose from a range of Year 11 and 12 pathways in order to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education. These pathways include:

  • OP for Tertiary study
  • Traineeship and Apprenticeship
  • Vocational Education
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • Horizons Program for exceptionally talented athletes and musicians.

In Senior School, students are able to participate in the Career Education and Employment Training programs, to develop an understanding and appreciation of real-world social, cultural and employment scenarios.

Our Seniors are also able to experience four to six weeks living and studying overseas in our Exchange Program.

Regular communication with parents allows teachers to work in conjunction with the home to achieve the best possible educational outcomes for each student.

Our Senior School Parent Information Handbook outlines all our Senior School teaching, learning and operational procedures.

For parents/guardians interested in enrolling a child in Senior School, we ask that you complete a John Paul College Enrolment Form at your earliest possible convenience.
