John Paul College Primary School provides a learning environment that values and nurtures each child. Our aim is to facilitate the development of life-long learning skills and to cultivate a community where children grow in ability and confidence.
As the first primary school in Brisbane to offer the International Baccalaureate Organisation’s (IBO) Primary Years Programme (PYP), our school has an innovative approach to teaching and learning that reflects current research and world‑recognised best practice. The educational framework for our curriculum is underpinned by the IBO PYP. This international, transdisciplinary programme is designed to foster the development of the whole child, including their social, physical, emotional and cultural needs as well as their all important academic needs.
Our professional staff are dedicated to ensuring the richness and diversity of learning experiences for each child. The Director of Teaching and Learning works closely with staff in each area of the Primary School to develop contemporary and dynamic programs that merge into a seamless learning journey and that integrate with other stages of the school and College.
The happiness and outstanding success of our children is testament to the quality of education offered in the Primary School.
Every child known and supported
To ensure we create a close relationship with every family, the Primary School is organised into three sub-schools. Each sub-school has a Head of School who oversees the specific learning development and pastoral needs of every child. Our "schools" within Primary include:
- Kindergarten
- Junior Primary (Prep – Year 3)
- Senior Primary (Years 4 - 6)
Child Care and Outside School Hours Care is also available.
